Bullying is a major issue in North America and among teens.
What is bullying exactly? Well, bullying can be defined as someone intimidating another person so the gets what he wants. Or that is at least what the textbook definition of bullying is. There are other types of bullying. Some bullies bully others because it makes them feel good and raises there self confidence. Somebody might bully out of peer pressure (See my post on Peer Pressure to learn about it and how to stop it) because there friends don't like a certain person. There is also cyber bullying which the most popular form of bullying in North America right now. Most people cyber bully nowadays because they feel safe behind a computer screen. In person it can be harder to do because adults can be around, and you can get in much more trouble if things get physical. The truth is, most people aren't safe behind a computer screen. In fact it may even be easier to track the person behind the computer than it is if its face to face. With today's technology you cannot hide from getting caught. Now that we know the types of bullying and what it is, how do we stop it?
Bullying can be stopped very easily if people weren't so afraid. Many people think that if they stop a bully, they may lose their social status or may become the one being bullied. Others think if you tell on a bully that person is a tattletale and they aren't mature. The truth is, the bully is the least mature one there. If a person has to resort to hurting someone else, there must be something going on inside that bully that is hurting him. If you are the one being bullied quickly tell a teacher or your parents/adult. If you see someone getting bullied all you have to do is gain some courage and walk up to the bully and tell him to stop. If he starts to go after you or continues on the person getting bullied tell an adult as quickly as possible.
